Malaria is an infectious disease caused by parasites of the class Plasmodium, transmitted by the bite of a mosquito called the female anopheles. This disease is the leading cause of death in Africa.

The female Anopheles survives in areas of high humidity and is most active at the end of the day (after 5pm).

Signs and Symptoms: Symptoms of malaria occur within 10 days after a mosquito stink. The symptoms commonly present are

  •  Fever: up to 38°C
  •  Headache
  •  Chills
  •  Body pain
  •  Sweating

Other symptoms of severity are :

  •  Fever at 40°c
  •  Prostration (especially in children)
  •  Convulsions
  •  Urine coca-cola; indicating the presence of blood in the urine
  • Pallor of the skin and mucous membranes (conjunctiva)

Once a diagnosis of malaria is made, the doctor knows exactly what treatment to start. NEVER TAKE ANY MEDICATION WITHOUT FIRST MEETING WITH A DOCTOR.

The prevention of this disease is based on :

  • Hygiene and cleanliness: get rid of stagnant water, clear the bush around your premises and keep your environment clean
  • Sleeping under a long-lasting impregnated mosquito net
  •  Closing all openings in the house from 5pm

Symptoms = sensation felt by the patient

Prostration = state of extreme fatigue
